And, our trekking company is…

After much consideration, reading and planning we’ve chosen to trek with Peru Treks & Adventure!  We reviewed many operators with different tour styles, possible start dates and availability.  Picking the right company for such a potentially arduous trek seemed overwhelming at times. REI and G Adventures offer more complete packages, including hotel rooms.  Llama Path and others also provide popular trek-only options.  However, we liked the detail on the Peru Treks web site, including current availability for prospective start dates, and we knew we wanted to handle our own flights and rooms for flexibility.  Our communications with them have gone smoothly and the briefing document they sent after the bookings were confirmed is nicely detailed. We also liked their photo gallery which gave us a good feel for the beauty, challenges and accommodations ahead.

You may well choose a different tour operator; we all have different plans and requirements. And, in the end, all these companies are likely to get all their trekkers to Machu Picchu. However, if you have questions, please post a comment and we can share any additional information we considered.

Coming soon, flights and hotels!

Machu Picchu; the Inca Trail, ready or not!

Exciting news, our trek permits are confirmed for Labor Day weekend. 4 days on the Inca Trail culminating in a tour of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

We’ve been planning this trip since our journey on the Camino de Santiago in 2015 and we will be sharing the planning with you here. Stay tuned.
